Camp Medley 80th Anniversary CelebrationThis Saturday! When you turn 80 years old, there ought to be a big celebration. That’s what’s planned for Camp Medley, the diocesan camp which opened in 1945 as a place for kids to get out of the cities and back to fresh air and nature. Everyone is invited, especially those with a link to the camp. If readers have any memorabilia from camp — crafts, photos, t-shirts — they’d like to show off, they’re asked to contact John (director@campmedley.ca). As well, if readers have stories from camp they’d like to share, please send them to this address: friends@campmedley.ca. Thy Kingdom Come
Thy Kingdom Come is a is a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus. Since it began in May 2016, God has grown TKC from a dream of possibility into a movement which unites more than a million Christians in prayer, in nearly 90% of countries worldwide, across 85 different denominations and traditions- so that friends and family, neighbours and colleagues might come to faith in Jesus Christ. Every person, household and church are encouraged to pray during the 11 days in their own way. Let us know how your church or you are praying in this diocese. We again invite you to pray that God’s Spirit might work in the lives of 5 people who have not responded with their ‘Yes’ to God’s call. Activities in the Diocese of FrederictonLet us know what your church or you are doing. Resources

St. Michael's Youth Conference - Maritimes
St. Michael’s is an annual conference in the Anglican tradition for youth aged 13–19. Together we pray, study, and play. Since 1987, St Michael’s has formed a vibrant community within the Anglican Church in the Maritimes. Our conference participants—or Michaelites!—don’t do things by half measures. When we worship, we worship God reverently in spirit and truth. When we study, we challenge ourselves to learn deeply. When we kick back for games and activities, we make sure that we have a blast. Comic Relief!
The Sunday school lesson for the day was about Noah's Ark, so the preschool teacher decided to get her small pupils involved by playing a game in which they identified animals. "I'm going to describe something to you. Let's see if you can guess what it is. First, I'm furry with a bushy tail and I like to climb trees." The children looked at her blankly. "I also like to eat nuts, especially acorns." No response. This wasn't going well at all! "I'm usually brown or grey, but sometimes I can be black or red." Desperate, the teacher turned to a perky four-year-old who was usually good about coming up with the answers. "Michelle, what do you think?" Michelle looked hesitantly at her classmates and replied, "Well, I know the answer has to be Jesus — but it sure sounds like a squirrel to me!" |
